CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Women in Pampanga Media (WIPM) treated its members and collaborators to a wellness workshop over the weekend to enable them to nurture their body, mind and spirit as they advance the cause of women empowerment.

“The wellness workshop intended to strengthen women who are engaged in information and communication work, education and advocacy projects and community initiatives,” said Sonia Soto, WIPM convenor. “We took time out to learn meditation, mindfulness and dance therapy to hopefully rejuvenate us as we help our sisters.”

Riza Shanti Lim, a holistic health specialist and Dr. Alberto Dimarucut, a master in human kinetics and movement, conducted the workshop in Lim’s Orissa Garden of Wellness at the foothills of Mt. Arayat in Barangay Ayala, Magalang town.

Lim also served vegan food and organic drinks.

Atty. Virginia Lacsa-Suarez, chairwoman of Pagkakaisa ng Kababaihan para sa Kalayaan (KAISA KA), said freeing women from unjust conditions, violence and discrimination is “not easy” although laws have been crafted to address those. “The terms are still not fair to us women so we must strive to assert our rights and link with sectors so we can get access to education, rightful wages, land ownership, other resources and opportunities to better our lot,” Suarez said.

The wellness workshop was made possible with the support of The Romac Group, Ms. Ma. Theresa Laus, Ms. Yolanda Miranda-Pineda, City of San Fernando Water District, Pampanga Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and House of Amaris. Press release
