MARIVELES, Bataan
Five volunteers have been producing washable face masks and distributing for free to villagers in a barangay here.

Rachelle Galicia, a barangay street cleaner or eco aid, said they have so far finished 700 face masks and already distributed about 500 pieces not only to residents of their village, Batangas Dos, but also to nearby villages in Mariveles.

She said their group was composed of three sewers and two cutters/markers who were convinced by Batangas Dos barangay chairman Jun Villapando to help the village in producing face masks.

Galicia said their barangay chairman is very supportive of their group.

They make the face masks in the barangay training center where there are sewing machines.

The group’s leader, Julieta Gutierrez, is an employee of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in Mariveles.

“Libre ang aming serbisyo at kasiyahan na namin ang makatulong sa panahong ito ng krisis dahil sa Covid19,” Galicia said.

She vowed to continue making fac emasks for free due to the great demand for the items and as long as donors for cloth, material for the face masks, will support them.
