MABALACAT, Pampanga – “We are solid behind the administration of Mayor Boking [Morales].”

Thus said Edwil Carillo, president of the Association of Barangay Secretaries of Mabalacat (ABSM), as he and some 26 members recently signed a manifesto expressing support and confidence to the government of Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales.

A law graduate and secretary of Barangay San Francisco, Carillo said the people need Morales to continue the development and progress in the first class municipality.

Carillo disclosed that they will support the re-election bid of Morales in the 2010 elections.

“So many good developments, especially infrastructure projects, in the town. So many new businesses, too,” said Carillo.

He lauded the Xevera-Mabalacat Housing Project in Barangay Tabun for giving “a new, fresh face to Mabalacat.”

“The Xevera project is not just good to the image of our town. It opens a place where there will be new set of businesses,” said Carillo, referring to the Mabalacat Central Business District (MCBD).

But some residents urged Morales to clamp down on crimes affecting the growth and progress here. They were referring to the series of robberies at gas stations in Barangays Mabiga and Sta. Ines.

“The mayor should order the police to go serious against crimes. The crimes had been redundant but the police have yet to arrest suspects,” said Ben Santos of Barangay Dau.

Last week, at least two suspects reportedly robbed the Flying V gas station in Sta. Ines.

Santos added that “worse, the same Flying V gas station was also robbed last year.”
