Village dad, drinking buddies collared in NE

JAEN, Nueva Ecija – Three persons, including a village councilman, were arrested over an alleged drinking spree in Barangay Sto. Tomas North here at about 3p.m. Tuesday, April 21.

Major Erwin Ferry, municipal police chief, identified the suspects as Florencio Cajucom, Jr., 36, barangay councilor; Antonio Collado, 48, farmer; and Ferdinand Cullado, 50, all of the said barangay.

Ferry said the operation against the suspects was prompted by a complaint from a concerned citizen thata group of men was having a drinking spree despite the liquor ban imposed here amid the total lockdown due to enhanced community quarantine.

It can be recalled that a 56-year-old woman from Barangay Niyugan here who died on April 10 tested positive of the dreaded virus.

“During the operation, the said persons resisted and tried to evade arrest,” Ferry said.

Charges for f violations of Sec. 151 of the Revised Penal Code and the newly enacted Republic Act 11332 were being filed against the suspects, police said.
