Veteran newsman laid to rest

    SASMUAN, Pampanga — Diosdado “”Dadong” Mangalindan Beltran was finally laid to rest over the weekend (Dec 1) at the Sasmuan cemetery after a solemn Latin Holy Mass for the eternal repose of his soul.

    Beltran succumbed to a lingering illness on Monday, Nov. 19 in Sasmuan, Pampanga. He was 68.

    Beltran, veteran newsman and lifetime member of the National Press Club, was a former section editor of The Manila Times. He also worked for the Philippine New Agency for many years.

    Recipient of a high school scholarship in the United States, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, major in Political Science, at the University of the Philippines in Diliman.

    He was secretary of the Samahang Plaridel, an association of senior journalists and a founding member of the Capampangan in Media Inc. (CAMI), an organization of Pampanga writers, newsmen and artists.

    He spent his retirement years as media and political consultant to public leaders and private/public institutions.
