CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Motorists are now allowed to use the third lane or the road shoulder of the Candaba Viaduct of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx).

According to Manila North Tollways Corp. (MNTC) president Rodrigo Franco, the asphalting of the road shoulder is now at its peak which will serve as the third lane for motorists while the foundations are being drilled underneath the structure for the establishment of emergency bays along the viaduct.

This will serve as parking spaces for motorists that may suff er car troubles or in case of emergencies along the four-kilometer viaduct.

Cross-over lanes will also be put up in the middle of the structure to be used in case there is a need for counter-fl ow traffic.

The changes that are being made in the Candaba Viaduct are part of the P5 billion road expansion of the NLEx from Sta. Rita, Bulacan all the way to the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
