CABANATUAN CITY – A tricycle driver who allegedly sold illegal drugs to an undercover policeman was killed in what police called an “encounter” along 10th Street, Barangay Kapitan Pepe here at about 3:30 p.m. Friday.
Police identified the suspect as Richard Hernandez, alias Jan Jan Competente, resident of Barangay San Josef Sur, also of this city.
Police said “the troops returned fire,” after the suspect suddenly fired a .38 revolver at the operative posing as buyer.
The suspect reportedly missed but was hit fatally by retaliating lawmen.
Aside from the gun, a sachet of shabu and the P1,000 dusted money were recovered from the suspect, police reported.
The suspect who was included in the city police’s drug watch list was also involved in a carnapping case lodged as Criminal Case No. 201302 -12 before the Regional Trial Court Branch 27, according to the police.
