ANGELES CITY – “We love Gibo.”

Thus chorused Lakas-Kampi party members here led by mayoralty aspirant Sec. Edgardo Pamintuan as they welcomed presidential bet Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro and his runningmate, Edu Manzano, at the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) on Tuesday.

“I haven’t seen one like him. Gibo is so intelligent. He could answer well just about anything you ask about his plan for the country and other issues,” said Councilor Maricel “Marang” Morales. “Gibo is the best choice.”

Teodoro and Manzano were accompanied by Pamintuan’s ticket for the 2010 elections popularly known as Team EdPam, Mabalacat Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales and First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin during their visit at AUF to attend a forum with students.

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Emmanuel “Manny” Angeles led AUF officials in welcoming Teodoro, a former defense secretary and three-term Tarlac solon. Angeles was a former AUF chancellor.

Councilor aspirant Atty. Angelo “Pinggoy” Lopez said “it’s indeed an advantage to be a lawyer when you are a top official of the country.”

“The president applies the law and it’s best that he understands it,” said Lopez.

“And he is one of the best lawyers thus far our country ever produced,” he added, referring to Teodoro who topped the Bar examinations in 1989.

Manzano, for his part, said he and Teodoro have many things in common, including “our refusal to be involved in graft and corruption.”

“I didn’t think twice when they asked me to join Gibo’s team. We both had not been implicated in anomalies despite serving public offices for many years,” said Manzano, a former Makati vice mayor and Optical Media Board (OMP) head.

Edu Pamintuan, son of the Sec. Pamintuan, said “what the country needs are energetic, young but committed leaders like Gibo.”
