TESDA hails winners of Central Luzon skills competition

GUIGUINTO, Bulacan (PIA) – Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) awarded the winners of the 2022 Regional Skills Competition (RSC) in Central Luzon.

The RSC aimed to recognize the skills and excellence of young skilled workers and graduates of technical-vocational education and training (TVET) at par with international standards.

The contest ran from August 30 to September 2 with about 60 competitors from the seven provinces in the region.

TESDA Regional Director Balmyrson Valdez emphasized that the RSC aspired for the young participants to reach new heights by helping them turn their passion into profession.

“Skills competition promotes skills excellence. It provides opportunities for young people to compete and demonstrate their competencies, in particular vocational skills using task and industry-based scenarios,” he said.

The contest focused on 28 skills areas including automobile technology, beauty therapy, bricklaying, cabinetmaking, car painting, carpentry, information network cabling, landscape gardening, mobile robotics, plumbing and heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning, wall and floor tiling, electrical installations and hotel reception.

Also included are information technology (IT) network system administration, IT software solutions for business, mechanical engineering CAD, renewable energy, floristry, bakery, cooking, fashion technology, graphic design technology, hairdressing, patisserie and confectionery, restaurant services, web technology, and welding.

Participants from the province of Zambales emerged victorious as TVET institutions including President Ramon Magsaysay State University, Comteq Computer and Business College, Provincial Training Center – Iba, and Power Skills Technical Institute of Zambales, Inc. brought home a total of nine gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.

Bulacan followed with six gold, two silver, and four bronze medals delivered by ATEC Technological College, TESDA Regional Training Center Central Luzon Guiguinto, Richwell Colleges, Inc., Fernandez College of Arts and Technology, Mel Blancia Learning Institute, Inc., and TESDA KorPhil IT Training Center, Inc.

Meanwhile, the province of Tarlac bagged seven gold and two silver medals won by TVET institutions namely First Tarlac Technological Institute Inc., Provincial Training Center – Tarlac, Concepcion Vocational School, Colasito Academy of Business & Technology Inc., Tarlac School of Arts and Trade Inc., Supreme School of Culinary Arts & Technology Inc., and Philippine Women’s University Tarlac.

It has also won one medallion of excellence which was awarded to Northridge Institute of Business and Technology, Inc.

Pampanga came out fourth with five gold, and five silver medals from St. Isidore “the Farmer” Learning Center, Inc., Provincial Training Center – Guagua, St. Nicolas College of Business and Technology, and Gonzalo Puyat School of Arts and Trades.

Bataan bagged two gold medals, five silver, and one bronze from the TVET institutions of Aertech Skills Training Institute, Inc., Philippine Women’s University Career Development and Continuing Education Center – Bataan, Inc., Regional Training Center Central Luzon Mariveles, Microcity College of Business and Technology Inc., Eastwoods Professional College of Science and Technology, Inc., and Bataan Peninsula Educational Institution Inc.

The province also got two medallions of excellence from Softnet Information Technology Center, Inc., and Philippine Academy of Technical Studies Inc.

Also, Nueva Ecija won one gold and two bronze medals from Palayan City Institute of Technology, and JVF Center for Technical Studies and Assessment, Inc.; and one medallion for excellence from Holy Cross College of Sta. Rosa, N.E., Inc.

Aurora got one gold and one bronze medal both from Peace Training Center.

With this, Valdez encouraged the winners of the regional meet to keep on striving for their best, especially those who will be moving forward to the national level of the competition.

“I assure you of the continuing support of TESDA Region III as you advance to the next level of the competition,” he pledged.

Gold medalists will undergo further training for the Philippine National Skills Competition on November 14 to 18.
