GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija – An 18-year-old student from the City of San Fernando, Pampanga was drowned while gathering clam shells on a fishpond here Sunday, police said.
The victim was identified as Rodsan Cunanan, a resident of Barangay San Agustin, City of San Fernando.
PO2 Rowell de Guzman, investigator, said the victim, along with his friends Raymong Garcia, 23 and a minor, went to a fishpond at about 3:10 p.m to gather clam shells. “The victim suddenly plunge(d) into the pond and did not appear prompting them (the companions) to report to Barangay Councilor (Aurelio) Dugay,” said de Guzman.
Responding residents recovered the victim andrushed him to the lying-in hospital but was found already dead, police said.
De Guzman said Cunanan merely visited Garcia in time for vacation when they agreed to go to the fishpond.
