ANGELES CITY – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has approved the release of P40 million funds for the construction of farm-to-market roads in the province’s first district, especially in Magalang and Mabalacat towns.

Disclosing this to Punto yesterday, First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin said at least P10 million of the total funds had been available and 10 Magalang villages would benefit.

Barangays Ayala, Camias, San Miguel, Escaler, San Francisco, Lapaz, San Agustin, Sta. Maria, San Pedro I and Sto. Rosario will get P1 million each for their respective infrastructure projects.

“On behalf of my people, we would like to thank PGMA for her unwavering support benefiting the people in general,” said Lazatin. He disclosed that the big chunk of the funds will be distributed in Magalang and Mabalacat.

“They need some attention and they were neglected before compared to Angeles,” added Lazatin.

Lazatin expressed confidence that “almost all if not all farm to markets roads will be completed before my term ends next year.” He said that he will be able to infuse some P120 funds for the various infrastructure projects with the help of Arroyo.

“We need good roads to make things happen in our economy, notably in the countryside were food are produced,” said Lazatin, who has some P40 million congressional development fund (CDF) for this year.

Sta. Cruz Barangay Captain Rodoldo Gonzales, Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president, said “Lazatin is a certified working congressman.” He added that the road projects had been “greatly appreciated by the people and their leaders.”
