CLARK FREEPORT – Police have arrested the prime suspect in the P7.5-million break-in and robbery at a posh subdivision inside this freeport last Monday.

The suspect, identified as Richard Dangayan, is a former driver of the victims Ghun Lee and Seongjun Park, Korean tourists, and their Filipina escort Karen Rose Maninggo.

Lt. Col. Soledad Elifanio, chief of Mabalacat City police that has jurisdiction over the case, said the break-in and robbery happened on the night of May 31 when Dangayan along with two cohorts barged into the residential unit of the victims at the Clark Hills subdivision and at gunpoint herded the victims in one corner.

Clark Hills, which advertises itself as “the biggest luxurious village in Clark, safest zone in the country,” is an exclusive gated community hosting mostly Korean nationals.

Elifanio said the suspects carted away cash and valuables estimated at P7.5 million. Among those taken by the suspects were P25,000 and P1,900 in two separate bundles; 5 million Korean won, a gold Rolex Submariner watch worth P1 million; a Rolex Daytona watch worth P2 million; a Tiffany gold bracelet worth P500,000; a Samsung Thom Browne cellular phone worth P180,000; a Louis Vuitton travelling bag worth P150,000; a Louis Vuitton shoulder bag worth P135,000; a Cartier gold ring worth P85,000; a  gold ring with diamond worth P35,000; a Gucci baseball cap worth P28,000; and  BPI ATM card.

According to Elifanio, Dangayan identified his cohorts as Reynaldo Casiao Beatriz and a certain “Migs” who remained at large as of posting time.

She added that a tracker team led by Lt. Silvestre Colanza has fanned out to different places in Central Luzon to arrest the two remaining suspects.

Dangayan is under investigation and remained in police custody for further investigation as a case of qualified theft is being readied against him.

The Clark Freeport is under the administrative supervision of the Clark Development Corp. whose current president and chief executive officer is retired police Brig. Gen. Manuel Gaerlan.
