MANILA – Visiting the pristine shores of Tablas is now made easier with Sunlight Air, with direct flights bi-weekly from Clark International Airport. Travelers can expect a seamless boutique experience to kick off their adventures at the Marble Capital of the Philippines, Romblon.
As part of its 7th anniversary celebration, Sunlight Air is expanding its network by opening a new route to Tablas, Romblon. The route is slated to officially launch on Aug. 11, with an introductory one-way base fare of P1,899, with flights every Tuesday and Saturday.
This new route is reminiscent of Sunlight Air’s beginnings when the airline first launched operations with its Manila to Busuanga, Coron route. Similar to the airport in Coron, the island’s smaller runways can only accommodate smaller aircraft, making the airline’s fleet of ATR 72-500 and ATR 72-600s perfect for the job.
As a very close neighbor to the bustling Boracay island, Tablas is a great alternative for travelers who want to take it nice and easy. It is the largest of the three main islands in the province of Romblon — namely, Tablas Island, Romblon Island, and Sibuyan Island — but is refreshingly untouched by commercialization.
Known as the ‘Marble capital of the Philippines’, the island is rich in marble deposits and is home to many skilled artisans. Avid shoppers or art enthusiasts might be able to find a number of world-class marble crafts, statues, and tiles, lovingly made by the homegrown master carvers of Romblon. Before heading back home, visitors can try their hand at a marble workshop, and shop for unique souvenirs at the Romblon Shopping Center.
Tourists can enjoy a number of water-related activities and moments of relaxation across Romblon’s sandy shores. For those looking to lie on the beach or go for a quick dip in the water, Binucot Beach is the way to go. The most famous beach in Tablas, visitors will enjoy its soft sand and a pristine sunset view. Visitors may also take a trip to Bonbon Beach, named one of the world’s Top 50 Beaches of 2025. It isn’t usually so populated and the waters are often calm, making it the best spot for some peace and quiet.
For island lovers, Calatrava island hopping allows you to explore different spots by boat — from Lapus-Lapus Beach and Cove Aurelio Beach, which both contain unique rock formations, to Tinagong Dagat, a scenic saltwater lagoon.
hose who love exploring the deep waters will have plenty to discover with Romblon’s famous snorkeling and dive sites. Some notable divers’ picks include Three P House Reef, which has its own resort and dive center, Blue Hole, situated at the very north end of Tablas, Bonbon Sea Grass Valley, known for expansive seagrass meadows and mounds of coral, and many more.
White Rock Reef, a snorkeling spot with a few underwater caves, is also a favorite and often sought out by divers from around the world. With its rich biodiversity and marine life, divers new and old will surely enjoy all this island has to offer.
