LLANERA, Nueva Ecija – Criminal charges have been filed against an 18-year-old male student who allegedly posted on social media a bomb threat that created fear among students, parents and school officials in Barangay San Felipe here Monday, police reported on Tuesday.
Llanera police chief Capt. Edmer Portillo said the suspect now detained at the station’s male custodial facility underwent inquest proceedings for violations of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) and Presidential Decree 1727 (Anti-Bomb Joke Law) before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Cabanatuan City.
Investigation showed classes were disrupted on July 27, due to the suspect’s post that says he will launch a bomb inside the school in San Felipe: “Hi magpapasabog po ako sa school ng San Felipe bukas ingat po.”
“That caused fear and disturbance among students, parents and residents of Llanera, Nueva Ecija,” Portillo said in his report to Nueva Ecija police director Col. Richie Claravall.
Portillo said they immediately conducted an ocular inspection in the school and coordinated with the Nueva Ecija Police’s Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit which made a thorough search and paneling of the area. It turned out negative for bomb though.
The suspect’s mobile phone is being subjected to forensic examination, police said.
Behind bars, the suspect said it was a joke that went wrong.
He asked netizens not to do what he himself did. “Huwag n’yo nang susubukan ‘yung mga ganun. Hindi maganda dito sa loob.”
