SM Mall of Asia was cited under the “Shopping Centers, Town Centers and Airports” category for transforming the mall into a whimsical Christmas Wonderland while SM City Pampanga was named finalist in the “Most Outstanding Christmas Feature or Prop” category.
The VM Christmas Awards ceremonies were held at the Retail Design Expo at the Olympia Exhibition Centre in London.
Jeff Suarez, SM Supermalls OIC for Marketing- North Luzon, said SM City Pampanga was a finalist for its Merry Nutcracker Christmas Centerpiece inspired by The Nutcracker by Alexander Dumas – a 25-foot grand Christmas display featuring a larger-thanlife ballerina and two monumental nutcrackers.
The VM Christmas Awards was open to retailers, brands, shopping center owners, high streets and suppliers. The awards focused on 2016 Christmas Windows and In-Store Displays.
An independent and prestigious judging panel of top retail designers, visual merchandisers, and marketing experts met last March 2017 to decide the final list of winners.
Suarez said the recent international nods of SM Supermalls are mere reflections of what is truly important to its 61 malls nationwide – “the best malling experience there is for our customers.”
He said: “We are elated that the success in giving our customers top-of-the-line shopping, leisure, and dining services has earned us international awards and accolades, thus proving the experience we off er is truly the best in the Philippines and around the world.”
Suarez also said with the naming of SM City Pampanga as a finalist, this proves that it remains on top in terms of service, events, and displays.
“The recognition is surely to bring joy and pride to all of our Kapampangan shoppers,” he said.
“After all, we were shortlisted in the ‘Most Outstanding Christmas Feature or Prop’, a category we delightfully entered for being considered for such an award is just fitting for a mall that is situated in the Christmas Capital of the Philippines,” he added.
