AFTER THE success of Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) Farmers Training Program Batch 157 in Dinalupihan, Bataan last April 2018, another batch was launched in Iba, Zambales on August 14, 2018.

Through the assistance of Municipal Agriculture Office of Iba and Harbest Agribusiness Corporation, participants were identified, assisted in determining site location, and disseminate information about the project.

Throughout the 12-week training, the participants will undergo a comprehensive course in production of organic high-value crops. Farmers are trained on updated farm technologies for fruit and vegetable crops through Harbest Agribusiness Corporation.

Now on their fourth week, farmers are looking forward to see their farm-produced crops. Harvest season or harvest festival will be on the first week of November.

SM Foundation’s KSK Program helps bring back hope in farming by updating the agricultural knowledge of farmers. For 12 weeks, farmers are taught on effective backyard planting and small-scale farming techniques. This helps improve the quality and quantity of their crops as well as provide food for their families. They are being assisted especially those who form cooperatives by linking them to local markets and SM suppliers for a more stable source of income.
