    They join the long lines to try their luck at realitysearch shows. They find ways to get discovered by a talent scout or a manager or a network or a film outfit.

    To some, it was a twist of fate that brought them to the industry. They are stars who were born into rich families, and their parents probably didn’t expect them to become artista.

    They live in mansions and resortlike houses.

    This list is about them, and it features 17 celebrities who, with or without their showbiz careers, will do just fine.

    Maine Mendoza’s dad is an engineer and an entrepreneur, while her mom is an accountant. Their family owns a franchise of a gasoline station and a fast-food chain.

    Beauty Gonzalez grew up in Dumaguete City, where her family owns a hacienda.

    When she joined Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus in 2008, she was introduced as sugarcane princess of Negros Oriental.

    She also earned the tag ‘Rebellious Beauty’ because she’s used to having the people around her give in to her every whim.

    Patricia Tumulak, the ‘Happy Birthday girl’ of Eat Bulaga!, hopes to build her own preschool someday.

    An alumna of Miriam College with a degree in Child Development and Education, minor in Special Education, she did some voluntary teaching in public schools before joining beauty pageants.

    But did you know that she lives in a mansion which has seven living rooms?

    Ellen Adarna is a ‘motel heiress’ whose family in Cebu is wealthy.

     A fight with her dad made her decide to move to Manila, and eventually join showbiz.

    Denise Laurel belongs to the prominent political clan Laurel.

    She’s the great granddaughter of the third Philippine President, the late Jose Laurel, and the granddaughter of the late Vice President Salvador Laurel.

    She has roots in Spain, Tanauan in Batangas, and Cebu, where her Lola Celia’s clan Diaz is also famous.

    Being a son to Manny Pacquiao’s brand manager Eric Pineda once became an issue during Enzo’s stint on StarStruck.

    Matteo Guidicelli was a known racer before becoming an actor.

    Before Slater Young joined Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited in 2012, he was an engineer in Cebu, where his father owns a construction firm.

    He became the reality show’s big winner, but the Filipino-Chinese celebrity decided to pursue entrepreneurship.

    Derek Ramsay was born in England, where he was raised by a British father and a Filipina mother.

    In an interview, Derek said his dad ‘was an expoliceman who worked as a detective-inspector for Scotland Yard.

    ‘Security is the best thing he knew so when he came to the Philippines he started his own electronicsecurity.’

    Their family owns a house in Tagaytay and San Vicente, Palawan.

    They also have a ‘little paradise’ in Talisay, Batangas, which has an infinity pool with a sunken bar,spa, sauna and scrub rooms, an artificial waterfalls, a tree house, plus dental and surgery rooms.

    Richard Yap was raised by a traditional Chinese family involved in rice, corn, shipping, and lumber businesses.

    But the Chinito actor decided to pursue his own path, and is now a restaurateur, owner of a pet hotel and flooring center.
