SANTA ROSA, Nueva Ecija – Sen. Francis Tolentino distributed upland vegetables and galvanized iron sheets to some 200 families worst hit by Supertyphoon ‘Karding” in this municipality on Friday.
Tolentino, who was accompanied by Mayor Josefino Angeles, Vice Mayor Atty. Ethel Angeles and sangguniang bayan members, encouraged residents to keep on holding to faith that God is taking care of everyone.
The legislator said he went to extend support to manifest that he was one with the local residents in enduring the effects of calamities even as Metro Manila and Tagaytay were spared from severe damages.
“Ang epekto ng kalamidad sa bawat isang pamilyang Filipino ay hagupit po sa ating buong bansa,” Tolentino said, saying he had been in all places, including in Mindanao, that were hit by calamities in the past.
“Lahat po ng pagsubok na ‘yan ay siguro ipinararamdam sa atin na tayo ay dapat magkaisa at magtulungan,” the senator who chairs the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee added.
He also noted that the country had hurdled the hardest life brought about by coronavirus disease pandemic for two years and the effective cooperation between the national and local governments showed that “God is with us.”
Tolentino also extended assistance to typhoon victims in Gen. Tinio town, also in Nueva Ecija and the municipalities of Sta. Maria and San Miguel in Bulacan province.
He said the goods were donated by his friends.
Angeles said it was the social welfare and development office that identified the beneficiaries.
