Supt. Sidney Villaflor, San Jose City police chief, received a plaque of merit award. A unit streamer was also hoisted on the station’s color by Commissioner Manuel Luis General of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), who represented DILG Secretary Ronaldo Puno, and assisted by Deputy Director General Ismael Rafanan, and PRO-3 Regional Director Leon Nilo Dela Cruz.
The San Jose City police station was cited for its neutralization of six different armed robbery hold-up gangs and a carnapping gang; the arrest of numerous illegal drugs personalities and the confiscation of illegal drugs and paraphernalia, confiscation of a number of both high- powered and low-powered firearms; and the numerous accomplishments of its Women and Child Protection Center (WCPC) which caters to cases pertaining to women and children as victims.
Villaflor, a 1992 PMA graduate, and 13 of his men earlier received the PNP Merit Medal award for having the most number of successful anti-illegal drugs operations in the whole region.
The police chief said their feats were attained primarily due to the unwavering support of San Jose City mayor Marivic Belena and Rep. Joseph Violago of the Ist District of Nueva Ecija.y San Jose City Mayor Marivic Belena and Joseph Violago extended to their station.
He also credited the assistance coming from the populace, especially from the barangay officials, for providing timely intelligence information leading to the arrests of the suspects.
Villaflor, however, clarified that the operational accomplishments did not indicate that San Jose City is a violent place. He said majority of the suspects arrested came from other places.
