SAMAL, Bataan: The Department of Agriculture on Thursday started distributing free commercial fertilizers to help farmers in this town for the dry season cropping.
Field technician Roy Vinzon of the Samal municipal agriculture office said the distribution is under the program Fertilizer Discount Voucher for dry season 2024 – 2025 of the agriculture department.
Beneficiaries in Samal are 256 farmers planting hybrid seeds and 326 farmers on inbred seeds under government’s Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) or a total of 582 farmers.
The free fertilizers consisting of urea at P1,700 per bag and complete (14 – 14- 14) at P1,650 per bag has a total amount of P2,202,159.80 with P1,160,488.00 for hybrid seed planters and P1,041,671.80 for user of inbred seeds.
A farmer is entitled to free fertilizers at P3,400 per hectare for hybrid seeds and P4,000 per hectare for RCEF inbred seeds.
Vinzon said government has a continuous program for farmers. “Huwag po sanang magsawa ang mga magsasaka sa pagtatanim kasi sila talaga ang inaasahan ng bansa para may makain tayo. Huwag po sana silang panghinaan ng loob dahil tuloy-tuloy naman po ang pagtulong ng gobyerno.” (30)
