QUEZON CITY – The Manila North Tollways Corp. (MNTC) launched on Thursday its new theme designed to give “the best motorist assistance program” as more than 200,000 vehicles are expected to use the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) daily beginning April 4, Holy Thursday.

In a press conference here, Metro Pacific Toll ways Corporation (MPTC) President-CEO Ramon Fernandez launched “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” as the new program ensuring all motorists to enjoy safe and hassle-free travel with a package of motoring assistance services. The MNTC and Tollways Management Corp. (TMC) are subsidiaries of MPTC.

“This motor assistance is precisely our answer to the needs of motorists during heavy traffic on holidays. We always run the extra mile to excite our customers,” said Fernandez.

The MNTC also announced the Holy Week express payment scheme to ward off   “frustratingly long queues at the toll plazas” at the NLEX and Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).

MNTC President and CEO Rodrigo Franco said they will issue tickets at the Balintwak exit of the NLEX covering the fee up to the Subic exit of the SCTEX. The MNTC earlier earned the rights to operate the SCTEX.

The MNTC announced that they will provide free wi-fi and laptop, iPad and mobile phone (in eight NLEX selected stations), free charging of cellphones for all types of mobile phones, free refreshments and other product samples.

The MNTC will create two service stations at the SCTEX along the portions of Subic and Concepcion in Tarlac.

At least 12 service stations will be available, nine of which are at the NLEX.

The Manuel Pangilinan-controlled corporations will also provide mobile medical clinics and emergency troubleshooting on all vehicles.

Franco disclosed that they will provide free towing for class 1 vehicles.

The NLEX averages about 160,000 vehicles per day. The MNTC said it was able to reduce traffic accidents by 18 percent compared to the same period in the whole of 2010.

In 2011, the volume of accident was reduced by 45 percent during the Lenten season compared to 2010.
