ZARAGOZA, Nueva Ecija — An alleged peddler of illegal drugs was killed while his companion eluded arrest in a buy–bust operation in Barangay Concepcion here at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Major Jaime Ferrer, municipal police chief, identified the suspect as Jaime Linsangan alias Tamundong, resident of Barangay Sangitan West, Cabanatuan City.
Ferrer said the operation against Linsangan was hatched by their drug enforcement unit upon confirming reports of the suspect’s illicit activity within their area of responsibility.
The buy–bust “resulted in armed encounter after the subject sensed that he was transacting with a police poseur–buyer,” Ferrer said.
The suspect’s cohort, police said, managed to flee by speeding away on board a black single motorcycle without license plate.
Investigators recovered from the suspect’s body ten plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P10,000, according to the police.
A .38 revolver and the P500 marked bill used in the sting were also recovered, police added.
Ferrer said Linsangan was included in Cabanatuan City drug watch list.
