BALANGA CITY — The local government unit of Bataan on Tuesday was selected as a Galing Pook Awardee for its public-private partnership program while being a finalist in another project, the 1Bataan Seal of Healthy Barangay.
Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia III received the awards from President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. at the Ceremonial Hall of Malacanang Palace.
“Ang Bataan ang kaisa-isang probinsiya na may dalawang programang nakapasok bilang finalists mula sa 196 na application buhat sa iba’t ibang probinsiya sa ating bansa para sa nasabing parangal,” the governor said.
The PPP program of the province is under the Bataan Public–Private Partnership and Investment Center. One such big and successful project under the Bataan PPP was the construction of the seven-story The Bunker, seat of the provincial government.
The 1Bataan Seal of Healthy Barangay was launched to improve the overall health of Bataeños. It granted financial rewards to any of the 237 villages with zero cases of dengue, animal bite, as well as maternal and infant death and drug-free.
The Galing Pook Award, administered by the Galing Pook Foundation, is a program recognizing innovative practices of LGUs.
