CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Several northern Zambales towns will experience up to eight hours of power interruptions on Wednesday, October 3, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.

Lilibeth Gaydowen, NGCP public affairs officer, said there will be a shutdown of Zambales Electric Cooperative I (ZAMECO I) transmission facilities in Iba, Palauig, Masinloc, Candelaria, and Sta. Cruz substations from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Gaydowen said this is to give way to the replacement of “selected line hardwares along the Botolan-Candelaria 69 KiloVolt transmission line.”

She said that normal operations will immediately resume as soon as work in the affected facilities is completed.

Gaydowen also said NGCP’s “customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary preparations and precautions for the scheduled interruption.”

“Specific cities and municipalities to be affected by the power interruption are determined by the affected Distribution Utility (DU), in this case Zameco I, unless the activity affects the entire franchise area,” Gaydowen also said.

The DU allots the available power within its franchise area and implements the power interruption schedule among the end-users, she added.
