ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin said his “business- friendly” administration will not increase business taxes or real property taxes (RPT).

“In the area of economics, I will make sure that my administration will be business friendly,” said Mayor Lazatin.

Mayor Lazatin said he has no plans to increase business taxes or real property taxes but will enforce strict and proper collection to increase the city’s budget.

“I will hold dialogues to the members of the business sectors and make sure that their inputs shall be continuously considered in the determination of policies that would affect the business climate in Angeles City,” said Mayor Lazatin.

Mayor Lazatin said his administration will also review ordinances that merely serve as burden to businessmen. Among these include the P20 tourism fee.

The local chief executive said he will tap talents in the business sector with fresh ideas and resources.

He will also ask the “business sector to promote and implement a drug-free workplace in line with President Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs.”

“I am also imposing that at least 70 percent of the businesses’ workforce must be Angelenos and likewise employ persons who are differently abled.”

He has vowed a transparent administration “just like that of my father.”

For a start, Mayor Lazatin has ordered the City Engineer to suspend the construction of the new city hall building and the sports complex, projects that will cost the city a P1.2 billion debt.

The loan will be reviewed and the budget re-allocated to construct hospital rooms, new classrooms for the City College, and repair of the old city hall building, including parking area.

This, will address the basic needs of our people — health and education.
