ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. called for a meeting with the city’s COVID-19 Vaccination committee on April 5, 2021 to iron out issues in the vaccination procedure, in order to ensure an efficient roll-out of the vaccines.
“Habang hinihintay natin ang pagdating ng mga karagdagang bakuna sa siyudad, gusto nating handa at plantsado na ang magiging proseso ng pagbabakuna natin sa 411,634 residente ng siyudad,” Lazatin said.
This was also reiterated by Chief Adviser and Tactician IC Calaguas, citing the actions that will be accomplished by the city.
One of the said actions to be undertaken as instructed by Mayor Lazatin is to designate an ‘Officer-In-Charge’ per vaccination day, that will handle all management-related issues and logistical concerns during the vaccination.
In order to prevent discrepancies, the Gender and Development (GAD) Office under Mina Cabiles, will be responsible for the supervision and handling of the master list.
Furthermore, to prevent jumping the queue and unauthorized insertions into the vaccination schedule, all insertions to the master list shall be coursed through the OIC assigned for the day, to be forwarded to GAD for inclusion in the master list and subsequent scheduling.
“Kung sino po ang nasa master list, sila lang po ang babakunahan sa schedule na iyon,” Cabiles said.
Calaguas also mentioned the procedure for the vaccination of the city’s Senior Citizens. On their scheduled vaccination dates, they will be picked up from their respective barangays, transferred to the vaccination venue, and returned to their homes.
She also clarified that in order to keep the schedule organized, ‘no-show’ patients during their scheduled vaccination date should not be allowed to just show up without prior notice.
‘No-show’ patients shall be re-included at the end of the master list to be scheduled at a later date.
Meanwhile, Dr. Canlas will submit to the Office of the Mayor a list of medicines needed to provide intervention to patients at the vaccination site who exhibit high blood pressure or allergic reactions.
To date, the city has already vaccinated 3,215 health workers and medical personnel handling COVID-19 patients at the city’s vaccination sites in RLMMC and City College of Angeles (CCA), using the vaccines donated by the World Health Organization (WHO) through the Department of Health (DOH).
Individuals who were vaccinated with Sinovac vaccine will get their second dose after four weeks, while those vaccinated with Astrazeneca vaccine will be given their second dose after eight weeks.
Meanwhile, Mayor Lazatin is encouraging all Angelenos to participate in the ongoing COVID-19 online (angelescity.gov.ph) and house-to-house survey in order to provide a more accurate database for the vaccine’s roll-out in the city.
The city government is procuring vaccines for the remaining residents.
