ZARAGOZA, Nueva Ecija – A prompt reporting by a concerned citizen has saved a woman from further harm from the beating of her live-in partner in Barangay Sta. Lucia Young here Monday night, police said Tuesday.
“If not for the timely information sent through a text message, the victim could have been harmed more,” police reported.
PO2 Amor Mischelle Nadudo of the municipal police’s women and children protection desk, said the 37-year-old woman and resident of the same place was being beaten black and blue by her live-in partner identified as Elmer Caleon, 35, when the police arrived.
“Upon receipt of the report, elements of the Zaragoza police station led by PO3 Nestor Magtibay immediately proceeded (to the place),” she said.
“The victim was asking for help because she was punched repeatedly on her head and kicked in different parts of her body by her live-in partner,” Nadudo reported to the Nueva Ecija police provincial headquarters.
The suspect was arrested by responding lawmen and is now facing charges for violations of Republic Act 9262, she added.
The victim, on the other hand, had to be brought to La Paz Medical Center in nearby Tarlac province for medical treatment.
