Thus, said Pinoy Gumising Ka Movement (PGKM) chair Ruperto Cruz in the wake of the “tanim-bala” controversy hounding the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila which according to him “has brought international shame to our country.”
Cruz was referring to Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Jose Angel “Bodet” Honrado who is hogging the headlines for his alleged “ineptitude” and “apathy” to the plight of OFWs and the other victims of the tanim-bala modus operandi.
Cruz said Honrado’s admission before the Senate investigation that he is merely a “coordinator” as general manager is already an indication of his incompetence. “He does not know his job,” observed Cruz. “He lacks supervision and control that’s why everything is in chaos,” he added.
Cruz said Honrado is “totally clueless” over his position. He is supposed to be the general manager but by his own admission he is merely a coordinator.
“President Aquino should immediately fire him from his post,” Cruz said.
“Asking him (Honrado) to resign is like getting him off the hook from his ineptitude which has already caused a lot of trouble and embarrassment with just a slap on the wrist,” Cruz pointed out.
But Honrado remained adamant. In published reports, Honrado insisted that he will not resign from his post unless President Aquino asks him to.
“We are already the butt of jokes because of this tanim-bala and even international news like Fox News have come out with their own dig on the controversy,” Cruz said.
In this connection, Cruz said, Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya should also be held accountable for mishandling the controversy.
Abaya has recently admitted lapses in filing cases against innocent tanim-bala victims.
The PGKM chair warned that Kapampangans and other stakeholders of the Clark International Airport (CIA) should now closely monitor Honrado because he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC).
“His incompetence could imperil the development of the Clark airport,” he said. Cruz recalled that as soon as Honrado sat as CIAC director, flights at the CIA “vanished” (Air Asia Phils, Emirates Airlines and domestic destinations Davao, Puerto Princesa and Caticlan-Boracay). CIAC President-CEO Emigdio “Dino” Tanjuatco III should be on his guard in the presence of Honrado, Cruz said.
