CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Health has allowed all of Pampanga’s 10 district hospitals to admit and treat patients with mild and moderate symptoms of the coronavirus disease.
The district hospitals, strategically located in all of the four districts of the province, were previously restricted to treat non-Covid ailments and emergencies.
Vice Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda announced the development over the Pampanga PIO social media page Tuesday as she advised residents infected with Covid-19 to seek immediate help.
Alongside the vice governor was Department of Health Region 3 director Corazon Flores who gave an update on the Covid-19 cases in Central Luzon and at the same time appealed for strict observance of health protocols “to help reduce the rate of infection.”
“Do not hide. Go to our district hospitals or use our schools so that you cannot infect your relatives,” the vice governor said.
In a phone interview, Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda confirmed the opening of the district hospitals for Covid-19 responses “to treat the rising cases.”
The Covid-19 tally board of the Pampanga PIO logged on Sept. 21: 343 new cases, 6,038 active cases, 33,994 recoveries, and 2,146 mortalities.
The Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Provincial Hospital is the main facility that handles mild and moderate cases. The severe and critical cases are referred to the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital which recently came out with an advisory that it had reached its full capacity and would no longer admit Covid-19 cases.
The provincial government built two large isolation centers for Covid patients in Mexico and Lubao towns and rented private hotels for quarantining or isolating them.
Pampanga has also rented the National Government Administrative Center North Wing and the Athlete’s Village at Clark New City as isolation and quarantine facility for Covid-19 patients of the province.
