HERMOSA, Bataan— Phase 2 of the mega build project, an economic development venture here estimated at P4 billion, broke ground Saturday.

Mayor Antonio Joseph “Jopet” Inton said the 24-kilometer project known as the Hermosa Mega Build Project will connect Barangay Mabiga in Hermosa to Morong, Bataan and the Subic Port Road.

“This will pave the way for the inter-connectivity of the Hermosa Economic Zone with the Clark International Airport and the Bataan Technology Park, the former Philippine Refugee Processing Center in Morong,” Inton noted.

He said that construction was going in Phase 1 of the project funded for P300 million with P200 million from Senator Richard Gordon and P100 million from Senator Sonny Angara.

The mayor said Gordon also funded the preparation of the feasibility study of Phase 2 that was estimated to cost P4 billion. “Ito ang pinakamalaking project sa kasaysayan ng Hermosa,” Inton said.

The Department of Public Works and Highways Region 3 and Bataan 1st District Engineering office implement the project.

The municipal government of Hermosa under Inton led in the groundbreaking ceremony in Mabiga with Gordon as guest of honor.

Also attending the occasion were Gov. Albert Garcia, Vice Gov. Ma. Cristina Garcia, Bataan 2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique Garcia III, 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman represented by lawyer Tonyboy Roman and DPWH officials led by assistant regional director Denise Maria Ayag.
