ANGELES CITY –
Solo parents, seniors, PWDs, tricycle and jeepney drivers make the target beneficiaries of some P26.8 million cash assistancefrom the city government.

This, the city government announced on Thursday in a series of press releases and in the city information office Facebook page.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. earmarked P5million financial assistance to solo parents. He said each solo parent will receive P1,000 in cash.

Also, to get P1,000 each are 1,800 of the poorest of the poor senior citizens in the city.

Earlier, the city procured P10million worth of Vitamin C supplements to help boost the immune system of the elderly, being a high-risk group of coronavirus infection.

Lazatin intends to go on a house-to-house distribution of the cash assistance and vitamin supplements as well as relief goods to seniors starting April 6.

Some 5,000 persons with disabilities stand to receive P1,000 cash assistance from the P5million the city allocated for that purpose.

This, even as Lazatin vowed that the PWDs, and for that matter, any sector in Angeles City society, will not be left behind in the relief operations being conducted by the city government as the enhanced community quarantine enters its third week.

Tricycle and jeepney drivers displaced by implementation of the ECQ will get P1,000 cash assistance each next week. This will come from the P15 million in the city’s Supplemental Budget No. 1 which was approved by the city council on April 1.

Records at city hall showed some 12,000 tricycle drivers and 3,000 jeepney drivers in federated organizations.

Lazatin clarified that the cash assistance for the marginalized sectors is separate from the financialassistance that will be provided to them under the national government’s P200 billion Social Amelioration Program currently underway.
