New Jersey: First stop in fulfillment of Lazatin’s dream of promoting Angeleño-made products abroad

ANGELES CITY – The American Dream Mall in New Jersey, USA serves as the first stop in the fulfillment of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.’s long-time dream to promote Angeleño-made products to the world.

The 27th Fiesta in America event held on August 17 and 18 at the mall drew some 500 people at the Angeles City booth, availing themselves of various products brought by the city delegation that included Kape Angeleño, the locally-grown coffee from Barangay Sapangbato, and T-shirts with “kulitan” design, the ancient writing script of the Kapampangans.

Lazatin’s chief adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel traveled to New Jersey on their personal capacity to lead the official delegation from composed of Angeles City Economic Development Office chief Irish Llego, gender and development officer Mina Cabiles, Angeles City Tourism OIC Anneleen Sugui, and chief technical writer Sharmaine Gonzales.

“When we come home to the Philippines, we will be sure to visit Angeles City,” said Vincent Medina, one of the emcees of the event.

Medina received a Lungsod ning Angeles tote bag that contains Kape Angeleño coffee beans, a ‘kulitan’ shirt, and a copy of the Dateline Magazine ‘One Town, One Product’ (OTOP) Special Issue.

According to Medina, his wife has not come home to the Philippines since 1987.

The Fiesta in America is an annual celebration of Filipino products organized by the Fiesta in America Inc. founded by Fernando Mendez in 1997. Angeles CIO
