In connection with the construction of the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority [BCDA] and the Provincial Government of Tarlac conducted a job fair held at the Bulwagan ng mga Gobernador, Tarlac capitol last September 19 themed “build, build, build, jobs, jobs, jobs”.
Targeting to hire 5,000 engineers, architects, masons, carpenters, electricians, laborers and heavy equipment operators, the job fair was able to lure 560 Tarlaqueño applicants.
The New Clark City is undergoing massive construction of office buildings that will house major government departments and a sports complex that will host next year’s South East Asian Games [SEA Games].
Don Juan “DJ” Bagatsing, BCDA Consultant and assistant to BCDA President Vince Dizon, said that the New Clark City will be the new hub for national government offices as the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte aims to decongest Metro Manila.
“The New Clark City will be the new Metro Manila as all national government main offices will be relocated in the area,” Bagatsing said.
For her part, Governor Susan Yap said that the New Clark City will boost economic activities in the province as the new hub is located in Capas town.
“People tend to believe that Clark is located in the province of Pampanga. Only one third of Clark is located there and two-thirds is located in Capas,” Yap said adding that the hosting of the country in next year’s SEA Games will expose Tarlac into the world.
The SEA Games facilities being constructed include a 20,000 seating capacity athletic stadium, 2,000 seating capacity aquatics center and a 525-unit athletes’ village wherein 95 of which are specifically intended for Persons with Disabilities. The village also has an amenities gym, library and conference rooms in each floor, kitchen and dining area, basketball court, swimming pool and deck of gardens.
Moreover, the construction of a 15-kilometer, 6-lane NCC-Clark Freeport Zone Access Road shall commence soon.
“We should be proud that Tarlac province will be a major host in next year’s SEA Games. This is our chance to boost our economy further. This dream is finally a reality,” the governor said.
Vice Governor Carlito “Casada” David, MTD Project Director Miguel Jose Rodriguez, Job Portal Task Force Head Jocelyn Caniones, BCDA Corporate Communications Associate Lanquin Seyer Gacusan, BCDA Community Relations Officer Jeng Mallo are likewise present during the job fair.
Companies that joined the job fair were MTD Philippines, Terp Asia Construction Corporation, Stonerich Metro Corporation, Hilmarcs Construction Corporation, BCDA, and Bonifacio Global City.
