JAEN, Nueva Ecija – A member of the sangguniang bayan in this municipality survived a gun attack in Barangay Sapang here at about 5:50 p.m. on Monday, police said.
Councilor Crisanto Matias, 38, a resident pf Barangay Dampulan here, is reportedly being treated in a local hospital for bullet wounds.
Investigation showed Matias was driving his pick-up truck (NCU 8523) with his wife when successively fired at by a riding-in-tandem suspects, said acting police chief Major Robert de Guzman in his report to Nueva Ecija police director Col. Richard Caballero.
The suspects fled toward the adjacent San Antonio town.
Vice Mayor lawyer Sylvester Austria expressed hope that perpetrators will be brought to justice soon noting that Caballero himself went to the crime scene for investigation.
“Gusto nating ma-solve kaagad ito at ganun din naman ang pulis,” Austria said.
