PALAYAN CITY – The provincial government of Nueva Ecija has started the rollout of vaccine against coronavirus disease as 960 vials of AstraZeneca that was procured through tripartite arrangement arrived last week.

Gov. Aurelio Umali said vaccines that were equivalent to 10,500 doses were part of the tripartite agreement entered into by the provincial government with the Department of Health and AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Inc. that covered 300,000 for 150,000 residents of the province.

This, he said, showed their resolve to help in the government’s fight against the pandemic.

He also expressed gratitude to the national leadership for the continuous provision of free anti-COVID-19 vaccines which are essential to get into the desired herd immunity for the new normal.

Aside from about 3,000 Capitol employees, the provincial government will also extend free vaccination to education and other sectors, which he said, can somehow ease the burden of the national government.

Meanwhile, the office of 3rd District Rep. Rosanna Vergara facilitated the distribution of relief packs for families of Covid-19 positive patients from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The relief packs were delivered to municipal governments which in turn will hand over them to the recipients, the reports said.

“Ang ating kongresista mismo ang lumapit sa tanggapan ng DSWD upang makapagbigay tulong sa mga pamilyang naapektuhan ng pandemyang dulot ng Covid-19,” said a statement from Vergara’s office.
