NBI nabs 7 tampering expiry dates of goods

OLONGAPO CITY — Seven
persons were arrested by joint operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Intelligence and Investigation Office while tampering the expiration dates of assorted goods inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Atty. Orlando Navallo, chief of NBIOlongapo City, led the raid with the freeport intel office on the PHIL-EM Enterprises, Inc., located at Building 187, Gridley Road, Global Industrial Park.

The raid was conducted by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Michael  F. Real of RTC, Branch 72 for violation of RA 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines), RA 9711 (Food and Drugs AdministrationAct), and RA 10611 (Food and Safety Act of 2013).

Caught red handed were employees of the said establishment erasing the expiry dates on the Clover chips and replacing them with a new expiry date using a printer machine.

The raiding team confiscated four units of Citronex printer machine with conveyors, 150 reams of labelling stickers, 50 reams of labelled stickers, two cans of eraser fluid (Boysen Lacquer Flo), and several boxes of food items such as Ligo sardines, Clover chips, Nissins cup noodles, Century tuna, Milo energy drink, Skyflakes crackers, Star margarine, Magnolia cheese, Royal and Fiesta pasta, Lily’s peanut butter, among other products, and food seasonings.

The NBI withheld the names of the arrested suspects pending investigation and the filing of appropriate charges in court.
