ABUCAY, Bataan — Police early morning of Tuesday shot and killed a man who allegedly resisted and fired at police during the serving of a warrant of arrest in a hilly sitio here.
Senior Inspector Jennifer Cruz, Abucay police chief, identified the fatality as Ruperto Dela Cruz of Barangay Laon.
The victim was allegedly involved in drug pushing being in the provincial drug watchlist, gun-for-hire and extortion activities in the province.
Recovered from De la Cruz were a .38 revolver with five live ammunitions and two spent cartridges and 10 heatsealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, the police chief said.
โNagsagawa ng serving ng warrant ang pulisya ngunit sa kasawiang-palad nag-refuse ang biktima na nauwi sa encounter at sa pagkasawi ng kanyang buhay,โ Cruz said.
She said that joint elements of the police provincial intelligence branch, provincial drug enforcement unit and Abucay municipal police served the warrant at about 6 a.m. at the victimโs hut in Sitio Malaking Bato, Barangay Mabatang.
Subject of the warrant was victimโs possession of a loose fi rearm and robbery, police said.
