    ANGELES CITY –Barangay captains Rodelio “Tony” Mamac of Balibago and Marino Atlas Morales Jr. of Dau won the synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Monday.

    Mamac garnered 3,542 votes while Allan Bonifacio, father of Councilor Alfie Bonifacio, garnered 2,251 votes. Administration bet Tom Pabalan bagged the 3rd place with 2,100 votes. Balibago has an estimated 19,000 voting population.

    Mamac said that “this only shows that the people of Balibago are wise voters.” “They know what good governance is all about.” 

    He urged his constituents, as well as his rivals, to work hand-in-hand for the continuous development of Balibago, from infrastructure projects to delivery of basic needs and services to local folk.

    On the other hand, Morales, son of Mabalacat mayor Marino “Boking” Morales, garnered 6,929 votes while his rival Derrick Dee, son of the late businessman Anthony Dee, garnered 4,274 votes. Dau has an estimated 26,000 voting population.

    Barangays Dau and Balibago are considered the most populated barangays in Pampanga.

    Both Atlas and Mamac will serve their second term as barangay captains.

    Meanwhile, in barangay Cutcut here, Cecil Nepomuceno, wife of outgoing Association of Barangay Councils president Robin Nepomuceno, defeated former councilor Ruben Maniago with an estimated 100 votes, according to a reliable source. Figures have yet to be released by the Commission on Elections.

    Cutcut, a known bailiwick of the Nepomucenos, has an estimated 10,000 voting population.

    Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and Governor Lilia Pineda said that the conduct of the elections in the province and in this city is generally peaceful.

    Pineda expressed elation over the vigilance shown by the electorate to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.

    “I would like to thank our cabalens for their active yet peaceful participation in the recent local elections which I was told came up with bigger turnouts in the history of the province,” she said in a press statement.

    Pineda congratulated the newly elected officials both in the barangay level and the SK. She also urged them to practice good governance to ensure effective delivery of basic and other social services to Kapampangans.

    She stressed that “elected leaders are public servants and they should work wholeheartedly for the people whom they pledge to serve”.

    “We work as a team and, in the process, make the electorate actively involve themselves in decision-making in their respective communities”.
