CABANATUAN CITY – A 14-year-old boy yielded P680,000 worth of shabu in one of two buy-bust operations in Nueva Ecija that resulted in the seizure of over P1.4-milion in illegal drugs, police reported Saturday.

Nueva Ecija police director Col. Ferdinand Germino said the minor was collared in a drug sting hatched by operatives from the provincial police’s drug enforcement unit and Santa Rosa Municipal Police Station in Barangay Rizal of the said municipality at about 1:30 p.m. Feb. 20.

“Authorities purchased one tied ice bag containing shabu worth P680,000 from the minor,” Germino said.

The boy, charged with violating RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act), was turned over to the municipal social welfare development office, he added.

In a separate buy-bust in Barangay Concepcion West, Zaragoza town at around 8:50 p.m., police initially arrested a 22-year-old male driver and a 32-year-old female caregiver following a transaction with a poseur-buyer involving marked money amounting to P1,000.

A subsequent search led to the confiscation of 12 heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu and one knot-tied plastic bag containing 110 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P748,000, and a blue Techno touchscreen cellphone.

A criminal complaint for Violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of RA 9165 is now being prepared against the suspects.

“This significant amount of shabu seized in this operation represents countless lives saved from addiction and its devastating effects. Those involved in the trafficking of illegal drugs will face the law, as their actions harm others and carry severe consequences,” Germino said, adding it was is in line with the directive of Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo.
