MABALACAT CITY — Unarguably the biggest economic activity here at the end of troubled 2020 was the opening on Dec. 30 of the cold storage warehouse of RMM Cold Storage Corp., one of the leading frozen meat importers in northern and central Luzon.
Located in Barangay Sapang Biabas, RMM’s newest cold storage facility can store a total of two million kilos of frozen meat and seafood products from its eight– storage–room warehouse facility.
Founded in 2009 by Gheric Manaloto and wife Rizalyn, RMM provides enhanced cold storage service offering a wide variety of meat and seafood products through the years.
According to Riza, RMM already has two warehouse facilities which are accredited by the National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS) to ensure proper handling and sanitation practices.
“Actually atin kaming NMIS office keni for our proper handling. Ing container mi ali de buklat nung alang NMIS representative. Ing permit mi kasi manibatan ya rin karela. Pag ali da kami dininan permit, ali kami makapag operate, (Actually we have NMIS office here for proper handling. We are not allowed to open our containers if we don’t have a representative from NMIS. Our permit will come from them. If they didn’t give us the permit, we wouldn’t be able to operate),” said Riza.
RMM started importing in 2013 products varying from processed meat and sausages, various cuts of pork, beef, chicken, fish fillet, and others.
“Mag-import na kami since 2013. Atin pork, chicken, beef, fish, etc. Ngening pandemic mas mesikan kami dahil keng demand pero itang first four months masakit, talagang zero kami, since March ita,” (We started importing meat in 2013. We have pork, chicken, beef, fish fillet, etc. Our business grew even more during this pandemic because of the demand, although the first four months were a struggle, that was inMarch, we were zeroed out),” Riza shared.
RMM has three more cold storage warehouses located in Miranda and Bagong Bayan in Angeles City, as well as in Calibutbut in Bacolor. They also have a total of 15 meat shops all over Pampanga delivering nationwide.
