Mayoral bets forum set

    ANGELES CITY – The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Pampanga (HARP) is set to stage the 1st Mayoral Candidates Forum on Feb. 17  at 7 p.m. at the Century Resort Hotel, Balibago this city.

    “The objectives of the forum is to provide candidates who have expressed their intention to serve the community as local chief executive an avenue whereby they can ventilate their platform of government in tourism, social welfare and economic aspect, peace and order and environmental management,” said regional director  Ronaldo Tiotuico of the Department of Tourism (DOT).

    He said hat “a distinct personality in the private sector will be chosen by a board of selectors to serve as moderator for the forum. Each candidate will be given prepared questions on various topics and will be required to answer for a limited number of minutes.”

    “Questions will be solicited and predetermined by a pool of experts in the academe. Rules of procedures governing the debate will be prepared to provide orderliness and harmony. Questions from the audience will be properly screened by a panel of personalities in tourism,” he added.

    He said the forum is meant to give people the opportunity to weigh their options in choosing the right person to serve the city based on the results of the forum.

    Tioutico also said that “a mock election may be conducted right after the debate to determine the more favored candidate.”

    HARP is a the most vital organization in the area of travel and tourism since its inception in the 70s. It enjoys the trust and confidence of the members of the travel industry and is duly accredited by the Department of Tourism.

    It counts among its pool of leaders Bruce McTavish, Joe Dizon, Susan Manansala of EuroAsia Hotel, Joey Moster of Marlim Mansions Hotel, Leonor Infante of the famed Swagman Hotel, among others. The year 2010 ushers in the leadership of president Jim Dale of La Casa Hotel. Jim is a distinguished personality in the local tourism industry having been active in running the affairs of the entertainment sector in Balibago.

    Dinner will be served at P350 per person.
