GAPAN CITY – Mayor Emerson Pascual warned against the producers of fake Covid-19 vaccination cards saying they will push criminal charges against them.

“Huwag po kayong mameke, sasampahan namin kayo ng kaso,” Pascual said in a live social media announcement Friday night.

This, as two persons allegedly involved in forging at least 40 vaccination cards were arrested and are now facing charges of falsifying public documents and estafa.

“Bakit naman kayo namemeke?” Pascual asked, showing several forged cards. “Hindi nyo ba alam kung ano yung paghihirap natin? Yung mga nurse natin ng city health office, DOH (Department of Health), mga volunteers, galing ako ng plaza ngayon, makita niyo mga pagod sila. May pamilya silang uuwian,” he added. Citing the hardships frontliners have to endure to serve the people.

Pascual did not name names but showed pixelated photos of the suspects. He also showed several fake vaccination cards.

“Ano intensyon niyo rito? Para makapasok sa mga mall? Makapag-travel? Para makalibot lang, e napaka-foul po nun,” he said.

Active Covid-19 cases rose to 48 on Friday from zero early this week. “Imagine, ganyan kabilis,” the mayor noted.

He was happy though that residents were responding to his call for vaccination. On Jan. 5, he said, 850 people went to the church to avail themselves of free vaccination, another 1,812 the following day in the same venue, and over 2,200 at the city plaza on Jan. 7.

By Jan. 20, only vaccinated people shall be allowed at the public market, Pascual said.

“Yung mga tindahan, establishments, mall na ang mga empleyado ay hindi vaccinated, bawal po kayong magbukas,” the local chief executive said.
