Mariveles fire leaves P1-M in damages

MARIVELES, Bataan — Fire hit a commercial building and stalls along the national road in a barangay here Thursday morning, leaving damages estimated at more than P1 million.

Lt. Col. Emelito dela Cruz, Mariveles police chief, said the fire started at 9:10 in the morning and damaged the ACJ disco bar and one tricycle of Edita Avila, residential stall of Orlando Avila, two water refilling stalls of Mary Rose Avila, and three rice stalls of dealer Melody Avila.

Orlando, Mary Rose, and Melody are children of Edita, all of Barangay Balon Anito, Mariveles.

“Fire out” was declared at 10:17 of the same morning.

The police chief said that based on the investigation of the Bureau of Fire Protection, the amount of the damaged properties was placed at more than a million pesos.

No one was injured in the fire that started at the ACJ disco bar, dela Cruz said, adding that a BFP arson investigator was still conducting investigation on the cause of the blaze.

Balon Anito barangay kagawad Jimel Ocampo appealed for assistance to six families of 35 individuals, including workers, affected by the fire. “Sana matulungan sila sapagka’t back to zero sila dahil hindi lang tirahan kundi pati kabuhayan nila apektado.”
