APPARENTLY PRECEDED by its renown as the place of that milk tea to crave for, Macao Imperial Tea (MIT) opened Friday at SM City Pampanga, not with the proverbial bang but with a quiet prayer – amid long lines – forming as early as 8:30 a.m. for the opening at 10 – of aficionados and tyros alike wanting to get a taste of the beverage du jour.

With the Rev. Fr. Ted Valencia officiating the blessing, franchisee Tess and Erwin Valdez, along with their children Frankie, Victor, Jorrel and Jelo, cut the ceremonial ribbon, followed by the traditional tossing of coins to “officially” open SM City Pampanga’s newest business enterprise, arguably its premier in the now highly competitive field of refreshing beverages.

Spacious – a vintage red Mini Cooper takes vantage spot in the store – MIT at SM City Pampanga has that coolest-of-cool ambience…

… further enhanced by a view of the Sky Ranch dominated by the biggest Ferris wheel this side of the metropolis. Tea with a view, how’s that. And in the evening with all those lights a-twinkling, ah…Nirvana.

MIT offers myriad choices flavorful beverages, coffee and sodas included, as well as a variety too of cakes and pastries.
