ANGELES CITY – Some 33,453 registered senior citizens here will receive P1,000 financial assistance and two-month supply of Vitamin C via house-to-house delivery starting on October 11.

This was confirmed by Eduardo Torres, Office for the Senior Citizens Affairs Head, who recently had a meeting with Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. and his Chief Adviser IC Calaguas for the said distribution of assistances.

“Patuloy po nating lilingapin ang kalusugan at kapakanan ng ating mga senior citizens lalo na ngayon na kinakaharap pa rin natin ang krisis ng pandemya,” Mayor Lazatin said.

The distribution will start in barangays with the smallest populations such as Agapito Del Rosario and Virgen Delos Remedios, with the assistance of Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles and City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Edna Duaso.

Torres furthered that this is not the first time that the Lazatin administration distributed cash assistance and Vitamin C to the elderly. It is only during Lazatin’s stint that registered seniors received cash aid and Vitamins C.

“Dakal a dakal pung salamat pu, ngeni pa mu pu milyari, king panawun ng Mayor Lazatin na memyeng P1,000 cash assistance at Vitamins,” Torres said.

In fact, 33,000 senior citizens have also received Vitamin C supplements last March with P1,000 financial assistance.

Torres recognized the initiative of Mayor Lazatin to look out for the welfare of the members of the Senior Citizens community, one of his campaign promises and priority programs.

The senior citizens in the city also regularly receive financial, and medical assistance from the city government since Mayor Lazatin assumed office in July 2019.

It can be recalled also that a total of 462 bedridden elderly and 396 seniors, aged 90 to 99 years old, were also given calcium carbonate supplements last October, with P2,000 financial assistance, while a total of 7,811 senior citizens have availed of the Anti-Flu and Anti-Pneumonia vaccination.

In the face of the pandemic, 462 bedridden elderly also received vaccines against Covid via house-to-house.

At the time of writing, 27,005 seniors already received their first dose of vaccines while 27,091 are already fully vaccinated.
