ANGELES CITY – Some 250 pre-schoolers with ages ranging from three to five years old were the recipients of quality meals during a supplemental feeding program at the Day Care Center in Barangay Sto. Rosario here last Friday.
The village affair dubbed, “Quality Meal Nutrition Assistance Program,” was also the occasion of the 47th birthday celebration of Sto. Rosario Barangay Captain Bong De Guzman who said the activity is a way of monitoring the health of young children to prevent malnutrition.
The feeding program was sponsored by Jenra Foundation under the TSB Realty and Development Corp. which owns and operates Jenra Malls and Supermarkets, Jollibee, Mang Inasal and Greenwich fast food joints here and in adjacent Dau in Mabalacat City, as well as the Sacred Heart Medical Center in Barangay Sto. Domingo as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Jenra Foundation director Byron John Tan Siy said, “we make sure we have CSR activities once a month.” Siy said the foundation’s other CSR activities include an outreach program for NGOs such as the Bahay Pag-Ibig home for the aged and the Munting Tahanan ng Nazareth orphanage in Mabalacat City, medical missions including the mass circumcision of 200 boys last summer, blood-donation studying at Holy Angel University taking up accountancy and engineering courses.
He also said before school opening, “we went to Sapang Uwak in Porac and gave school supplies to children and we planted trees.” Siy, who is the son of Josie, the eldest of the Tan brood of five, described the CSR as “the way of the family to give back to the community.” Hotel Sogo joined the foundation as a partner in the CSR.
Meanwhile, De Guzman said it is really heartwarming for the Jenra Foundation and their partners to share their CSR with his constituents especially on his birthday. “Nagpapasalamat po kami sa Jenra Foundation sa tulong nila sa mga bata sa aming barangay,” said De Guzman.
