In a report, the RRRDMC said the typhoon, which veered away from Philippine territory yesterday, affected a total of 74,308 families or 361,546 persons in 517 barangays in Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales.
The government “served” 53,891 families or 266,125 persons either inside or outside evacuation centers in the region, the report said.
The report also said that as of yesterday, major dams in Central Luzon ceased to release waters. These include the Angat, Ipo and Bustos dams in Bulacan and the Pantabangan dam in Nueva Ecija.
The RRRDMC noted seven deaths and 27 injuries arising from Typhoon Lando in the region where floodwaters submerged 223 barangays, including 29 in Bulacan, 146 in Nueva Ecija, 44 in Pampanga and four in Zambales.
The report also cited 158 totally and 911 partially damaged houses in Aurora, 20 totally and 11 partially damaged in Bataan, 36 totally destroyed in Bulacan, 69 totally destroyed and 2,866 partially damaged in Nueva Ecija, one totally destroyed and 39 partially in Tarlac, and 12 totally destroyed in Pampanga.
Initial reports placed damages to infrastructure and agriculture in Central Luzon at P4,651,924,662.70. The breakdown is as follows: P81,313,910 in Aurora, P53,748,800 in Bataan, P96,283,940.90 in Bulacan, P3,541,498,974.16 in Nueva Ecija, P12,695,722.84 in Pampanga, P865,903,314.80 in Tarlac, and P480,000 in Zambales.
The RRRDMC also reported that as of yesterday, a total of 53 road sections in Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales remained impassable due to floods or landslides. Nine bridges in Nueva Ecija, Tarlac and Zambales were reported washed out by strong currents.
As of yesterday morning, power still had to be restored in wide areas in Aurora and Nueva Ecija.
