Photos taken last August during the house-to-house vaccination of 139 bedridden Persons with Disabilities, where they also received their ₱1,000 cash assistance from the Angeles City Government led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.
ANGELES CITY – A total of 2,361 indigent Persons with Disabilities are set to receive P1,000 financial assistance each from the city government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. this October.
Mayor Lazatin has allotted P2.5 million under Supplemental Budget No. 2 for the said social amelioration assistance.
“Isa po ang komunidad ng PWDs sa ating tinututukan. Kaya naman po nagpapasalamat po ako sa Sangguniang Panlungsod sa pangunguna ni Vice Mayor Vicenta “Vicky” Vega-Cabigting sa pagsuporta sa ating hangarin na maseguro ang kapakanan ng ating mga PWDs,” Lazatin said.
The 139 bedridden PWDs, who were visited last August via house-to-house for their Covid-19 vaccines already received their P1,000 cash aid, amounting to P139,000. This fund is from the P2.5 million fund filed by Mayor Lazatin under SB no. 2.
Further, the remaining P2.3 million will be utilized for the 2,361 indigent PWDs.
Alma Vital, Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office Head, said “we are very thankful to our Mayor Lazatin for the love, care, support and to attainment of accessible and PWD-friendly Office, and the continuous support to the PWD sector.”
“For our fellow PWDs, in behalf of our city mayor, we encourage you to be part of our community to show up and not to be ashamed of what and who you are because we can do, what others can do too, in our own different ways,” she added.
Rosalina Figuerroa of Barangay Salapungan recognized the efforts of Mayor Lazatin in looking after the PWD community.
“Maraming maraming salamat po at binigyan niyo ng pansin ang grupo namin ng may kapansanan,” Figuerroa said.
Jayson Valencia from Barangay Sapalibutad furthered, “Dakal pung salamat Mayor keng egana ganang suporta pu king kekaming sektur a PWD, magpasalamat kami pu kareng pung egana ganang binye mu. Luid kayu pu Mayor!.”
Abelardo Guevarra of Barangay Cutud agreed, saying “Sir, salamat pu keng binye yung biyaya king opisina mi.”
Cezar Malinao, working staff from PDAO, meanwhile said thru the PDAO he was able to be employed and help his family.
“Maraming maraming salamat po Sir, napakalaking bagay po nito. Lalo na po at muli akong nakapagtrabaho para sa ating lungsod,” he added.
The welfare of the PWDs has been one of the priority aims of Mayor Lazatin.
It can be recalled that Mayor Lazatin has been promoting PWD-friendly premises in the City Hall by putting up necessary structures like an elevator and ramps.
Mayor Lazatin also instructed the City Engineering Office and the Business Permit and Licensing Division to conduct an inspection on the accessibility of establishments for PWDs.
To remind them that they are part of the community and will never be left behind, inset and sign language were included in the city government’s official news broadcasts.
Amid the lockdown, P5 million was allotted to distribute P1,000 cash assistance to 5,000 registered PWDs.
