SAMAL, Bataan — This little but rising agricultural town celebrated the country’s 125th Independence Day on Monday in simple rites despite the bad weather.

Mayor Alex Acuzar and Vice Mayor Ronnie Ortiguerra led in the program inside the municipal hall attended by members of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection and sangguniang bayan, barangay officials, and government workers.

Due to the rains, wreaths of flowers were placed at the entrance inside the municipal hall and later offered at the foot of the monument of national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal while there were light drizzles.

The mayor thanked all those who attended despite the rains and to remember those who sacrificed for the freedom we have.

Most parts of Bataan like the town of Samal experienced moderate to light intermittent rains Sunday afternoon until Monday morning.
