MARIVELES, Bataan — The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan on Friday reported that operations at the Freeport Area of Bataan here continued to show improvement with the decrease in cases of the coronavirus disease.
AFAB administrator Emmanuel Pineda said port operations in the Mariveles freeport have increased by 63 percent in the 609 vessel calls it recorded in 2021 while the number of workers is now about 10 percent higher at 37,379.
“Presently, the FAB continues to have high hopes as it eyes further improvement in the status of the companies with the continuous decrease in the number of Covid-19 and the implementation of Alert Level 1 in Bataan,” Pineda said.
The province was placed under Alert Level 1 effective March 1, 2022.
“Covid -19 cases in FAB continued to drop in its latest record after the AFAB and its stakeholders worked on various initiatives against Covid-19,” AFAB senior information officer Karen Padaoan said.
She said that presently, there are only three cases waiting recovery from the virus in the ecozone.
Padaoan said Pineda and AFAB chairman Pablo Gancayco wanted the continuous strict observance to the minimum health and safety protocols.
